Your to-do list can be both easy and powerful
Your email inbox and notes are easy
When I ask people, “How do you know what you’ve got to do next?” the most common answers are:
- I check my inbox.
- I keep lists of things I need to remember.
- I sort of just know.
Then when I ask “How do other people give you things to do, or know what’s still outstanding?” they say things like:
- We use Asana / Trello / ClickUp / etc to manage all of our tasks
- They email me, and if I forget, they email me again.
But typically most people seem to be doing most of their tasks from emails and lists, instead of using the shared software. When asked why, they normally give a combination of:
- I just find my way easier
- The software doesn’t let me do something I need
What works for one person fails for many
For most people, this easy way to work makes it hard for them to answer questions like:
- How do people know you’ve finished and they can start on the next task?
- What information or files did that task use or create?
- What other tasks were done for that business / project / department / etc
When I dig into how much time is spent organising the work compared to getting things done, I’ve found some businesses that make it ‘easy’ for their staff to use whatever works for them, spend more than half of their time organising. This is spent in meetings, stand-ups, chasing un-answered emails, and reporting to managers, and recovering from missed tasks, lost information etc.
Simple and powerful
The Complete Business Management Suite has been built to make using it feel simple and easy, while automatically keeping everything connected. Continue adding tasks to lists, then see only what needs your attention today. If it doesn’t do something you need it to, it is flexible enough that you can just add that function in yourself.
Then instead of spending time organising work, chasing things up, looking for files, and reporting, you can just get things done. In the background all of that organising is automated for you.
